Engaging COMMUNITY LEADERS from all levels to advance strategies to prevent chronic disease.

“One of the tests of leadership is the ability to recognize a problem before it becomes an emergency.” –Glasow

A healthy community thrives! This work group is looking at a number of areas to improve in our community. From community design to access to fresh produce, business leaders and elected officials throughout Kern County have researched ways to ensure our community is self-sustained and promoting the health and well-being for all.

Worksite Wellness

More and more large companies are investing in onsite clinics to improve the health of their employees. As noted by many, the cost of healthcare is quickly adding up and becoming nearly 20% of gross domestic product. However, not all businesses can afford on-site clinics. Consider your employee’s needs and maybe start a walking group, or bring in a fruit bowl for employees to share produce from their gardens.
